Methionine prices stay soft in China despite improved demand

Prices of methionine were mostly unchanged during the week ending April 23.

Poultry markets strengthened as China prepared for the May Day holidays, lending support to the sales of feed. With usages higher, methionine demand was stable during the period in review. However, prices remained flat as feed producers were reluctant to stockpile high inventories of raw ingredients.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine were stable to lower in the range of RMB20-20.50/kg.
