New Zealand's Veritide develops meat test technology

Veritide, a New Zealand-based supplier of biological identification and detection solutions, has developed a technology which is reportedly able to provide real-time results for processing firms when testing meat for contamination.

The company reports that its technology presents an alternative over conventional methods, which can take days to deliver results.

Veritide had specialised in equipment detecting contaminants associated with bioterrorism-anthrax and ricin.

In the process of developing the technology, Veritide has partnered with meat producer, ANZCO.

According to Veritide's chief executive, Craig Tuffnell, said that the new proprietary testing technology uses fluorescence at its core, which helps facilitate quick results.
