Romania's wheat exports drop to 88,000 tonnes

In January 2013, Romania's wheat exports dropped to 88,000 tonnes, out of which 11,000 tonnes were imported mainly from neighbouring countries Hungary, Bulgaria and Republic of Moldova.

The volume of exports was however rather small, compared to the 1.16 million tonnes of wheat exported in second half of last year. The main country of destination in January was Iraq with 52,000 tonnes, followed by Turkey with 17,000 tonnes.

Romania's net exports of corn also decreased in January to 72,000 tonnes, compared to 302,000 tonnes in fourth quarter last year.
