Viet seafood exports to Japan to read US$1 billion

Vietnam's seafood exports to Japan this year are expected to reach US$750-800 million, and to US$1-1.2 billion in 2010, the Ministry of Trade announced.

The seafood sector seeks to maintain its 25 to 30 per cent market share in Japan by improving sales of other products such as fresh shrimp, cuttlefish and fish, besides its staple of frozen shrimp.

Currently, up to 31.4 percent or US$680 million of Vietnam's total seafood export revenue comes from the Japanese market, an increase of 31.2 percent from 2004.
