Telefonica Tech integrates AI into Stolt Sea Farm's aquaculture farms

Telefonica Tech, through its company Geprom and its Big Data and AI (artificial intelligence) business line, has developed a plan to digitalise the 14 aquaculture farms owned by Stolt Sea Farm within five years, Telefonica reported.
Stolt Sea Farm a leading company in land-based turbot and sole aquaculture with over 50 years of experience, in Spain, Portugal, France, Iceland, and Norway.
Telefonica Tech's plan includes the creation of a ground-breaking digital tool that will enable Stolt Sea Farm to optimise its business by allowing it to predict the supply and demand for its fish.
The tool will combine data collected at the plants and analysed with Big Data and Artificial Intelligence from various industrial digitalisation platforms (WMS for warehouse management, MES for production digitalization, and APS for production and demand planning).
Machine learning algorithms will provide Stolt Sea Farm with patterns to improve its planning, as advanced analytics will provide an estimate of customer orders and allow it to manage the fish to be slaughtered more efficiently.
Stolt Sea Farm will also be able to optimise their processes in order to more accurately quantify the number of turbot and sole fingerlings they need to bring into the farms in order for them to reach the appropriate size on time.
The digitalisation of Stolt Sea Farm's aquaculture farms is one of the success stories highlighted by Telefonica Tech at the seventh edition of the Advanced Factories 2023 congress, which is being held in Barcelona from April 18 to 20. Daro Cesena of Geprom and Jorge Juan Alfonso of Stolt Sea Farm spoke about how the need to digitalise aquaculture farms arose and how technology is assisting the company to optimise its business.
