Brazil nearly doubles exports of poultry genetics in March

The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) said Brazil exported 3,030 tonnes of poultry genetics in March 2023, up 93.7% in sales compared to the same month in 2022, Brazil-Arab News Agency reported.

In the same period, export revenue increased by 84.7% to US$27.842 million. The shipments include day-old chicks and hatching eggs.

Foreign sales of poultry genetics increased by 92.5% in the first quarter of 2023, with 7,685 tonnes exported. Revenue increased by 70.3% to US$70.08 million in the first three months of 2022.

In March, Mexico was the leading buyer of Brazilian poultry genetics, with 1,719 tonnes, a 279% increase. Peru and Paraguay were also notable export destinations.

Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA, said Latin American countries increased imports in March, outpacing traditional destinations such as Senegal.

Santin said Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and the European Union also made significant purchases in the month, reinforcing Brazil's position as an export hub for poultry genetics, a high-value-added segment.
