Russia reports three outbreaks of classical swine fever
Three new outbreaks of classical swine fever have occurred in Russia, according to Dr Evgeny Nepoklonov, Deputy Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance at the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received Follow-up Report N. 15. The affected populations consist of pigs and wild boar.
A total of 30 pigs were found susceptible, out of which four cases were reported. The affected animals were found dead. No pigs were destroyed.
In the case of wild species, 23 animals showed signs of susceptibility. Two cases were reported, wherein both animals were found dead.
The source of the outbreaks remains inconclusive.
