China lifts ban on German pork and eggs
China has resumed imports of pork products and egg products from Germany after an outbreak of dioxin pollution in the European country earlier this year, China's Quarantine Bureau said Tuesday (Apr 19).
China "allows the imports of edible pork products and egg products, which were produced after March 14, 2011 and met our laws and regulations, from Germany," said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in the statement published on its website.
The resumption takes effect immediately, it said. Earlier this year, China suspended imports of pork and egg products from Germany after German authorities said the highly toxic chemical dioxin had been discovered in pork and poultry products.
