Parana state to resume pork exports to EU

Brazilian state, Parana, has adopted a series of measures to resume its pork exports to the European Union (EU) region.

The state has not exported pork to the EU since October 2005, due to cases of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).

EU delegation will visit several Brazilian pork producers in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná states to check if the conditions fit the criteria.

Although Parana is Brazil's third largest pork producer, it exports less than 10 percent of its production to Hong Kong, Uruguay and Kazakhstan.
