Conab: Brazil's domestic meat supply remains stable
The amount of meat available on Brazil's domestic market has stayed stable, despite fluctuations, according to the country's national agricultural agency, Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab).
Based on the organisation's update, pork production has grown in recent years, ensuring supply. Pork production is expected to reach a new record of 4.35 million tonnes in 2021. This would exceed the 4.25 million tonnes recorded in 2020.
As a result, the total domestic availability of meat (including poultry, pork and beef) was stable in 2020, compared to the previous year. This trend should continue in 2021 as a slight reduction in the total volume on offer, around 1%, is expected.
Domestic availability of pork remains above 15 kilos per inhabitant per year.
