Cherkizovo tops ranking of Russian meat producers for sixth straight year

Cherkizovo Group has topped the ranking of Russia's largest meat producers for the sixth straight year, the company announced.

The ranking was put together by Agroinvestor, a leading industry publication.

Agroinvestor has hosted the Russian Meat & Feed Industry conference, where it presented the 2020 ranking. Cherkizovo was the first on the list, having produced 884,000 tonnes of slaughter weight (up 54,000 tonnes or 6.5% year-on-year).

The group's higher output in 2020 was driven by robust domestic demand for its products and the growth of exports, primarily to markets across Southeast Asia and the CIS.

Cherkizovo also increased its chicken meat production by 3.7% to 794,000 tonnes (hereinafter in live weight) and pork production by 6% to 302,000 tonnes. Tambov Turkey, a joint venture between Cherkizovo Group and Spain's Grupo Fuertes, stepped up its production by 39% last year, reaching 57,000 tonnes.
