Bird flu detected at Bulgarian industrial farm
Bulgaria's food safety agency has detected a bird flu outbreak at a chicken form south of the country in the village of Bogdanitsa, with flocks there to be culled to prevent the spread of the virus, Reuters reported.
The Bogdanitsa industrial farm is the seventh farm to be affected by the highly pathogenic avian influenza type A in the southern part of Bulgaria since December 2021.
Previous outbreaks of the virus in the country has resulted in culling programmes to contain the spread.
Bird flu outbreaks have been reported in other parts of Europe, Asia, and in North America. France is facing its biggest bird flu outbreak ever, with almost 8% of egg-laying hens being killed. The US is currently coping with its worst outbreak of bird flu in history.
