Pakistani rains destroy wheat crops
Deluge followed by windstorms have compounded the anxiety of wheat and gram growers as the most recent spell of rains across Pakistan has destroyed their crops and postponed harvesting.
Meteorological Office Director General, Dr Haneef, said though weather was growing dryer in lower parts of the country, upper parts, including some parts of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa, GB and Kashmir would receive more rains in next couple of days. He said weather would remain partially cloudy but dry in irrigated areas of Punjab and Sindh during the next two days.
He said that dry weather would help farmers complete the harvesting of their wheat and gram crops. Recent rains have caused damages to gram and wheat crops on hundreds of acres in different areas including Lakki Marwat, Talagang, Sahiwal and parts of Punjab and Sindh.
