China may import pork from Malaysia
China is exploring the possibilities of importing pork from Malaysia to alleviate the problem of pork shortage in the country, said Beh Kim Hee, the chairperson of the pig unit of the Federation of Livestock Farmers' Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM).
Beh has arranged relevant authorities from China to meet up with Dato' Dr Abdul Aziz Bin Jamaluddin, the Director General of Malaysia's Department of Veterinary Services. The parties will talk about import-related issues such as prices and delivery procedures.
If the deal goes through, it will be the first time that Malaysia exports pork to China.
