Russia exports more grains for current marketing year

Russia exported 10.9 million tonnes of grain between the beginning of the current marketing year Jul 1 2005 and Mar 31 2006, compared with 6.5 million tonnes in the corresponding period in the previous marketing year, according to figures released by the agrarian markets research institute IKAR.

The total grain export during the period included nine million tonnes of wheat, up from 5.5 million tonnes of wheat last year.

IKAR said it expected the rate of Russian grain export to decrease considerably in the coming months, with overall exports in the current marketing season forecast at 12.4 million tonnes, compared with 9.1 million tonnes in the 2004-2005 marketing year.
