Marine Harvest closes Chilean processing plant

Marine Harvest has shut down one of its three processing plants in Puerto Montt.

The closure was due to the Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISA) outbreak, which has led to a reduction of harvest volume.

The closure is part of a restructure plan of the Chilean organisation which will continue in the coming months, according to the company.

The restructure is a necessary move to ensure the short term viability and long term development of the Chilean aquaculture industry wherein Marine Harvest will play a key role, said the company.

In February, the company had closed down 13 production centres in Chile due to its struggle with ISA.
