China confirms H5N6 bird flu among wild birds in Liaoning
China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said the highly pathogenic H5N6 bird flu was detected among wild birds in Liaoning province, northeast of the country, and the first confirmed case of the H5N6 strain the country this year, Reuters reported.
The site of the outbreak, a forest park in Liaoning's capital of Shenyang, has 291 wild birds with 11 killed by the disease.
The remaining 280 birds were culled to prevent the spread of the virus.
The last H5N6 case in China was detected on February 2020 at a poultry farm at Sichuan province.
