US meat manufacturer plans to expand plant in Pennsylvania
US meat producer, John F. Martin & Sons Inc. plans to expand its smoked meat manufacturing operations in Pennsylvania and receives financial assistance from a local development authority.
The company, located in Stevens, Lancaster County, is looking to expand in Womelsdorf, the Reading Eagle reported.
Bernell M. Martin, vice president, told the newspaper that 50 of the current 170 employees will transfer to the new plant, and 20 new jobs are expected to be added.
The company produces bacon, ham and other meats primarily for sale to grocery store chains.
The Berks County Industrial Development Authority has agreed to help provide financing for the expected US$10.3 million project in the form of tax-exempt bonds not to exceed US$7 million, the article said.
