Ukraine meat processor to increase swine livestock before 2010
Ukraine's Hlobyne Meat Plant LLC, a large-scale producer of meat products based in Hlobyne, Poltava region, has plans to increase its swine livestock by 2.5 times or by 52,000 heads to 87,000 pigs before 2010, announced the company's director Oleksandr Bondarenko.
Bondarenko stressed that the construction of a pig farm had started as far back as three years ago, and the processing capacity now makes 5,000 to 6,000 heads per month.
The meat plant is currently planning to invest EUR1 million (US$1.32 million) in a project to implement a slaughtering department.
The director said that supermarkets are setting very high demands for meat, adding that the company needs to have good-quality equipment for slaughtering.
According to earlier local news reports, the Hlobyne meat plant limited liability company was founded in 2001. The company is a large-scale producer of sausages which are supplied throughout Ukraine.
