Ukraine cancels import duty for meat products

Ukraine has cancelled its controversial 13 percent import duty increase for meat products, according to the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service.

On March 25, 2009, the Ukrainian Customs Service stopped charging an additional 13 percent import duty for beef, pork, offal, poultry products, processed beef and pork in excess of WTO negotiated levels.

Some legal aspects of the duty decrease are still unclear, but previously negotiated custom duties have been restored.
