Poland to cut poultry exports to the EU by 15-25 percent

Polish poultry producers will be reducing exports to the EU as the high currency rate makes them unprofitable, according to Leszek Kawski, head of the National Poultry-Breeders' Council.

The high currency rate has been hurting profits, and Polish poultry producers have responded by cutting back exports.

Poultry exports to the EU markets would be reduced in between 15-25 percent, said Kawski.

Germany is the biggest buyer of Polish poultry.

Polish companies exported about 276,000 tonnes of poultry products last year, while Poland's total poultry production is over 1.4 million tonnes.
