EU raises cap on intervention corn sales by Hungary
After considering corn demand changes in several EU regions, the European Commission announced that it would raise the cap on the amount of intervention corn Hungary is allowed to sell to other EU member states by 500,000 tonnes.
Hungary currently has an estimated 3.3 million tonnes of corn in its intervention store, said Secretary of the Hungarian Grain Association Zsofia Potsa. The amount was 4.3 million tonnes in end-2006.
