China's March soy imports rise 38% on-year
According to the latest data povided by the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday (Apr 10), China's March soy imports reached 4.83 million tonnes, a jump of 38% from the same period of the previous year.
The soy imports last month increased 26% from a month earlier.
This figure is higher than the earlier forecast of 3.9 million tonnes made by the Ministry of Commerce.
In the first three months of this year, the country imported a total of 13.33 million tonnes of soy, up 21.6% on-year.
China is the biggest soy importer in the world. It imported 52.64 million tonnes of soy in the full year of 2011, a drop of 3.9% from 2010, marking the first decline since 2004.
