China's April soy imports forecast at 5.63 million tonnes

China is anticipated to purchase 5.63 million tonnes of foreign soy to be delivered to ports in April, the Ministry of Commerce reported Wednesday (Apr 11).

The figure is far higher than the ministry's earlier forecast of 3.88 million tonnes.

The MOC also estimated that 4.82 million tonnes of soy were delivered to Chinese ports in March, almost the same with the import data of 4.83 million tonnes released by the General Administration of Customs.

The report is based on importers' shipments from March 16 to 31. The MOC regularly releases its estimates twice a month and the figures are usually different from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) as they do not include all cargoes.
