Italy asks for reauthorisation of GM corn to be suspended
Italy has requested the European Commission to suspend the reauthorisation of genetically modified (GM) corn, MON810, and re-examine the biotech crop.
A Directorate-General for Health and Consumers (DG SANCO) spokesperson said that the EU executive had yet to receive the request. Its consideration would be dependent on the submission of new scientific evidence by Italy.
