China's COFCO builds meat plant in Hubei province

Construction of the meat products deep-processing project belonging to COFCO, China's largest grain and oil foodstuff company, has began in Wuhan City's Jiangxia District.

The project involves a total investment of US$100 million and is expected to be completed within three years.

The project would introduce the most advanced meat processing equipment from Europe, for chilled meat products. Once production begins, the project's annual high-quality meat products output is expected to reach 50,000 tonnes, with sales income reaching RMB2 billion. Most of the products would be sold for the local markets.
