China's feed output shrinks by 3%, pressuring feed additive sales in February

Feed output in China shrank by over 3% in February this year, hence curtailing the sales of feed additives.
As livestock inventories diminished before Chinese New Year in January, feed consumption dwindled in tandem in the following month. Feed producers limited the purchases of feed additives amid slow sales.
In the vitamins market, prices of most products were mainly stable with limited price movement. However, niacin prices dropped by 19% due to adequate supply. Compared with a year ago, niacin prices were marginally higher by 2%.
Vitamin prices slid by 4-5% in February, with supply exceeding demand, while vitamin D3 prices were lower by 5%. Prices of vitamin A and vitamin B2 slid by 4% each as producers attempted to move sales to clear stocks. Prices of inositol were weaker by 3% over the month.
For other vitamin varieties, prices were stable, rising by 2% or less. Only vitamin B1 registered a 4% increase amid tighter availability.
The market for amino acids lacked momentum in February due to sluggish demands.
98-percent lysine sales weakened significantly as overseas orders dwindled after the European Commission imposed a provisional anti-dumping tariff ranging from 58% to 84% on Chinese lysine products in mid-January. Over the month, 98-percent lysine prices fell substantially by 15%. 70-percent lysine, mainly for domestic consumption, held prices stable, inching up 2% over the month.
Threonine prices fell significantly by 17%, as feed producers withheld purchases.
Methionine prices strengthened by 8% amid stable sales, while tryptophan prices dipped by 3%.
For minerals, prices were mostly firm in February. Those of calcium phosphate products increased by 2-4% whereas monocalcium phosphate prices remained stable.
Ferrous sulphate prices increased by 9% in February; manganese sulphate weakened in price, sliding by 5% amid ample availability.
