India's Thirumala Milk to establish milk plant in Tamil Nadu
India's Thirumala Milk Products (TMPL) will establish a milk processing and packaging plant at Melmaruvathur in Tamil Nadu state worth INR1 billion (US$18.37 million).
According to the company, the plant will have a capacity to process 400,000 litres of milk per day.
TMPL managing director Brahma Naidu said that the construction of the plant is expected to complete over the next six months.
"We are conducting a survey besides looking for milk plants in the national capital region for acquiring or taking on lease a milk processing and packaging plant," he added speaking about the plans to start their operations in Delhi.
The company has allocated INR500 million (US$9.18 million) for Delhi operations. It also plans to commission an integrated dairy at Vinukonda in Guntur district of Andhra Pradhesh with US$18.37 million investment.
TMPL has also unveiled its rebranded logo on April 8, 2013 to check several counterfeit products.
Currently operating in states Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, TMPL offers milk products, including long shelf-life products like ultra-high temperature processing milk, sterilised flavoured milk and lassi.
