China's top live cattle exporter hails from Fujian province

 

 

China's Fujian Kangxing Livestock Co. Ltd, based in the town of Maping in Fujian province, has successfully exported a shipment of 1,813 heads of cattle to Malaysia after the herd has passed quarantine.


The shipment is the third batch of live cattle exported from the area and the first large shipment of live cattle from Fujian province in four years.


With abundant grassland and other natural resources, the area is able to meet Word Health Organization's requirements for cattle exporters. Maping Cattle is recognized as one of the four premium cattle breeds approved by China's Department of Agriculture.


To date, Maping has exported 4,904 heads of cattle to Malaysia, making it the biggest live cattle export base in China.


Currently, 83 percent of the farmers in Maping rears cattle, with the cattle herd size reaching 9, 000 heads, or about 1.5 heads of cattle per family.
