Agritech GPS cattle tracking company Moovement raises US$1.5 million in funding
Moovement, a Netherlands-Australia based Agritech GPS tracking company, has raised GBP 1.1 million (~US$1.5 million; GBP 1 = US$1.37) in a new funding round from Future Food Fund, which invests in agricultural and food technologies, Silicon Canals reported.
Moovement, which helps farmers track and trace cattle, said the new funding will help to expand customer offering and boost growth.
Moovement offers insights and alerts farmers about their herd so they will be able to manage their cattle efficiently and in a sustainable manner. Their product is aimed at pastoral farmers, who usually have limited access to their herd because of long distances between them and their cattle.
The Moovement product comprises GPS ear tags for the cattle, a local LoRa radio network and a mobile app. Moovement was developed in partnership with 20 pilot farms in Australia over three years of extensive field testing.
Moovement became commercially available from September 2020 and is currently in use by a number of Australian beef producers.
Pieter Vogels, co-founder of Moovement, said the funding will be used to increase growth in Australia and expand their business in the United States, South America, and Africa to meet growing demand.
