Shrimp import rejections by US in March from Vietnam, India
In March, the US refused 171 seafood entry lines, of which 12 were of shrimp-five for reasons related to banned antibiotics, one because of the presence of pesticides, and six because of the presence of salmonella.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said, as reported by the Southern Shrimp Alliance, that the five shrimp entry line refusals due to veterinary drug residues were from Vietnam, as well as the lone entry line of shrimp refused because of the presence of pesticides.
On the other hand, the six entry lines of shrimp rejected because of the presence of salmonella were from India.
