Russia bans dairy products by Mlekovita from Poland

Russia's federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance says it will ban imports of milk and other dairy products from Polish firm Mlekovita from 17 April, following its ban of Polish processed meat products citing fears of African Swine Fever.

Russian inspectors claim that potentially harmful enterobacteria were found in Mlekovita products, although company chairman Dariusz Sapinski rejected the accusations in an interview with the Polish Press Agency.

The ban is the second to affect a dairy company based in Poland this year, following the block on Hochland Polska products on 5 February.

Minister of Agriculture Marek Sawicki said on Monday that he is "concerned" about Russia's latest announcement.
