ADM To Halt Soybean Crush At 4 Plants Easter Weekend

Soybean processing at four different Archer Daniels Midland plants will be halted Easter weekend, the company said Thursday.

Karla Miller, spokeswoman for ADM, confirmed that the company decided that plants in Des Moines, Mankato, Minn., Lincoln, Neb., and Galesburg, Ill., will be out of production Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Processing at the plants will resume next week.

An industry analyst said that while various other plants across the South have previously idled production due to scarce quantities of soybeans, this move is likely to increase meal basis resulting from the high cost of soybeans.
