France's pork exports fell by 8.9% last year

 

 

 

France's pork export volumes (excluding offal) fell sharply in 2023 by 40,000 tonnes carcass, or 8.9%, to around 618,000 tonnes, together with an additional 147,000 tonnes in offal.

 

Fresh and frozen pork exports from France to third countries fell by 0.9%. Exports to China fell by 16.5%, as it imports less pork due to the rise in its domestic production.

 

In the European Union, Italy's share, the main destination for French pork, rose 6.6%, while Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium fell by 2.0%, 2.9% and 1.5% respectively.

 

France's fresh and frozen pork exports from French operators fell by 6.5% (- 31,000 tonnes of carcass). The same applies to fats which fell by 9.8% (-3,000 tonnes) as well as offal (-3.8%, or -6,000 tonnes).

 

France's exports of charcuterie fell by 7.2% (- 9,000 tonnes).

 

French export sales for all pork products (including offal) were estimated at €1.9 billion in 2023, up  €122 million (+6.8%) from 2022.
