Yurun Group Co Ltd, one of biggest meat products makers in China, plans to build a pig farm in Nenjiang county, Heilongjiang province, which will be the company's biggest such farm in China.
With total investment of RMB180 million (US$27.5 million), the pig farm will cover around 333,500 square metres, of which the first phase construction area will reach 60,000 square metres. Upon full operation, the pig farm will have 2,550 pigs in stock and produce 10,000 breeding pigs and 50,000 growing finishing pigs per annum.
Yurun Group will help local farmers standardise pig breeding in a bid to increase the county's pig production to one million per annum in the coming three to five years.
After the exposure of pork additive scandal, more meat processing companies in China accelerate the pace of building large pig breeding farms on their own.
