Russia puts in effort to help world grain markets rebound

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Russia will aid the world grain market recovery from the damage caused by an export embargo enforced since last year's droughts in his country.

Putin stopped short on Thursday (Apr 7) of giving an indication of whether the ban might be removed before September. Putin was speaking at a meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II in Moscow.

Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik last month swore the ban would not be terminated until at least September, despite complaints from local exporters who have inventories growing.
