Philippine city to implement two-phase swine livelihood project
Philippines' Bacolod city cooperative announced to implement the Swine Livelihood Project in two phases, as it considers the business as high risk.
Bacolod's cooperative board of directors said they would implement the first phase by giving the responsibility to the cooperative officers because of the risk of the animals acquiring Foot and Mouth disease, Hog Cholera virus and other related diseases.
The second phase of the project was supposed to be implemented in the last quarter of 2007, but the Hog Cholera Virus hit the swine industry in Luzon, delaying Bacolod's series of orientation on the swine livelihood business.
The swine livelihood project in the Philippines is geared to provide income to the cooperative and individual members.
