China Methionine: Producers stand firm (week ended Apr 4, 2022)

Despite slow sales, methionine producers lifted prices as the costs of production remained high.

Transacted price of locally produced dl-methionine in China strengthened to the range of RMB18.90-21.90/kg, whereas those of imported products increased to RMB23-23.50/kg.

Methionine hydroxy analogue prices were stable to higher in the range of RMB15.70-18.30/kg.

Export prices of dl-methionine rose to US$2.98/kg.

Price quotes of methionine in Europe were in the range of EUR3.50-3.60/kg.

Unless oil prices fall prominently, methionine producers are unlikely to negotiate prices in the near term.
