Anitbiotics used for veterinary purposes in Germany fell by about two-thirds over a decade

The amount of antibiotics dispensed for veterinary medicine in Germany has been reduced by about two-thirds over ten years, according to figures provided in an infographic by the Federal Information Center for Agriculture (BZL).
With minor differences, this applies both to antibiotics in general (-65%) and to critically important antibiotics (-67%), which the World Health Organization (WHO) attaches particular importance for human treatment.
The amount of antibiotics in 2021 fell by 14% compared to the previous year.
Critically important antibiotics were reduced by almost one-fifth over the same period.
