Brazil to see record harvest for corn in 2013/14
The USDA is expecting a record corn harvest for Brazil in 2013/14 despite low prices due to local oversupply.
Corn production for 2013/14 is projected at 76 million tonnes with planted area holding steady at around 15.1 million hectares in order to meet the needs of domestic swine and poultry producers.
Corn exports for 2012/13 and 2013/14 are projected at 18 million tonnes, the second highest level, but 36% down on the 2011/12 record.
