China discovers new African swine fever case in Gansu

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said two cases of African swine fever (ASF) was found in Gansu province, northwest China, reported Reuters.

The first outbreak was discovered in a co-operative that purchased piglets from a different province.

The other ASF case was found among piglets which were being transported towards another province.

ASF has decimated more than 40% of China's swine herd and continues to spread across the country, pushing the country to impose new measures to boost swine numbers. The recent new ASF cases in China is affecting farms that are trying to restock with young swine.
