In volume terms, beef exports stood at 82,100 tonnes in March, a 24.4 percent increase on February and a 2.7 percent drop on the same month of 2008.

Poultry exports generated a US$356.7 million revenue last month, 21.3 percent bigger than in February and 23.1 percent smaller than in March last year. In volume terms, exports reached 279,000 tonnes, up 19 percent on February and down 1.3 percent on March 2008.

Pork exports totalled US$94.8 million in March, 9.8 percent more than in February and 0.6 percent less than in the same month last year. In volume terms, pork exports stood at 44,800 tonnes, up 10.6 percent on February and 17.9 percent on March last year.

One of the reasons for higher revenue in March compared to February was the price increase of these products in the international market.
