Bunge To Import Brazilian Soymeal
Bunge Ltd., the world's top oilseed processor, said on Thursday it would import soymeal and soyoil into the United States from South America if it is necessary following last year's short U.S. soy crop.
Bunge Chief Executive Officer Alberto Weisser told a conference that the company was talking to its customers over the need for such imports. He said soymeal and soyoil imports would be a "very normal event" if they take place.
Drought reduced U.S. soybean production, and stocks are forecast to drop to their lowest level in 27 years this year.
