More Vietnamese firms get license for EU seafood export
The European Commission has permitted 53 additional Vietnamese businesses which have enough conditions to export seafood to the market, according to local news on Wednesday (Mar 30).
The number of the Vietnamese firms eligible for exporting seafood to EU has, thus, risen to 379 to date, stated Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
Businesses had to join strict quality inspection programs conducted by the EU delegation to get the certificates for export to the EU.
In 2010, the EU imported more than US$1 billion worth of seafood from Vietnam. Currently, the EU is still a big market for Vietnamese seafood products
Vietnam targets to earn US$5.5 billion from seafood exports this year compared with US$5 billion in 2010.
