ASF kills hundreds of Papua New Guinea' pigs
The government of Papua New Guinea (PNG) confirmed that more than 300 pigs have died in the country's highlands - from African Swine Fever.
While Papua New Guinea (PNG) is in lockdown due to COVID-19, another disease has been confirmed in the country that could have wide ranging impacts.
It has already has killed a quarter of the world's pig population and with no vaccine it has had PNG on high alert for months over fears it would affect the country.
Pigs are not only a food source in PNG, they are also a crucial part of the culture and, mass pig deaths could lead to social upheaval.
