Moldova's grain yield to fall, wheat price to rise 10%
Last year's fall drought and severe frosts in the past winter heavily damaged Moldova's winter crops, resulting in lower grain harvest and higher wheat price by at least 10%.
Of the almost 300,000 ha of wheat planted in the fall of 2011, only 10% was not affected by frost.
According to meteorologists, 10-80% of wheat plantings were lost in some regions.
So, a bill exempting agricultural producers from land tax in 2012 has been registered in Parliament. Also, it is projected to allocate funding for diesel fuel and restore fertiliser purchase subsidies.
