European Union 2022/23 wheat exports at 22.66 million tonnes

 
 

 

Data from the European Commission showed European Union 2022/23 season soft wheat exports (started in July) had reached 22.66 million tonnes by March 26, 2023, 8% higher compared to the 20.89 million tonnes exported in the same week in the 2021/22 season, Nasdaq reported.

 

Barley exports from the European Union totalled 4.43 million tonnes for the 2022/23 season, 30% lower compared to the 6.29 million tonnes year-on-year. European Union corn imports increased 69% to 20.38 million tonnes, compared to 12.08 million tonnes year-on-year.

 

The Commission saidd that it was still having issues putting together data on grain trade from Germany and Italy.

 

Germany's submitted export data from November may be incorrect as a result of the country's transition to a new declaration system, while import data for Italy only covered the period up to January 30.

 

The following two reports will be released on Wednesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 12, according to the Commission.

 

An analysis of the European Union data showed that, with 8.70 million tonnes shipped, France remains the region's top exporter of soft wheat, followed by Romania with 2.90 million, Germany with 2.7 million, and Lithuania with 1.97 million.

 

According to the data, Spain is the top importer of corn into the EU in 2022/23 with 6.89 million tonnes, followed by the Netherlands with 2.41 million, Italy with 1.71 million, Portugal with 1.56 million, and Hungary with 1.5 million.
