Bulgaria confirms bird flu outbreak among 177,000 laying hens
Bulgaria's food safety agency has confirmed a highly pathogenic bird flu outbreak at a poultry farm with over 177,000 laying hens, Reuters reported.
Authorities have culled the remaining flock at the farm located in town of Asenovgrad, This is the sixth industrial farm south of the country affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza type A since December last year.
Previous bird flu outbreaks have resulted in extensive slaughtering programmes to prevent the spread of the virus.
