Canada's poultry meat now allowed into Mexico

Canada's fresh poultry meat imports is now permitted to enter Mexico following the cessation of a ban imposed in 2004 due to an avian flu outbreak, according to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

The end of the suspension means an estimated $3 million per annum of poultry exports, including chicken, turkey and duck, will make their way to the North American country.

However, there remains a few import restrictions which the Canadian government is still working on to have them lifted.

In 2015, the agriculture and food products trade between Canada and Mexico amounted to about $3.8 billion.
