Israel's Hazafon region reports Newcastle disease outbreak
A poultry farm in the Hazafon region of Israel has reported an outbreak of Newcastle disease.
A report submitted to the OIE by Israeli veterinary authorities states that over 10,000 birds have been destroyed. The birds were egg type breeders of 35 weeks old. The case was identified following a drop in egg productivity and a slight rise in mortality.
The farm, which had medium biosecurity measures in place, is located in a high density poultry growing region. Control measures are now in place including movement control of birds inside the country and vaccination.
